STUDY GUIDE FOR NEW US CITIZENSHIP TEST

To be eligible for naturalization, you must be able to read, write, and speak basic English. You must also have a basic knowledge of U.S. history and government. The questions on our sample test questions page are examples of questions a citizenship officer may ask you at your interview. You must know the correct answers to all these questions. A good tool that can assist you to memorize all the answers is the Free American Citizenship Practice Test System and the free citizenship test practice software.

The sentences in the next section are examples of the types of sentences a citizenship officer may ask you to read aloud or write during your interview. You must practise reading and writing before you go to the interview. Please remember that the questions and sentences in this study guide are examples only. The CIS officer who interviews you may ask you to answer other questions or to read or write other sentences.
